What makes a body shape desirable has changed considerably over the last century. What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift, or BBL for short, is an invasive cosmetic surgery that aims to add fat to the buttocks to make it larger and to remove fat from the waist and/or hips in order to enhance the appearance of your buttocks. 

A BBL is generally performed using a general anesthetic, which means that you will be asleep for the duration of your procedure. It then takes place in two parts. 

First, you will be given liposuction which will remove excess fat from around your waist/hips area. This is the fat that will be used to enhance the size of your buttocks, but liposuction in this area has the benefit of creating further definition to the lower back which will enhance the results of your buttocks once the treatment is complete. If you don’t have enough excess fat in this area, liposuction may be performed on another part of your body to obtain the fat needed for the BBL. 

Liposuction is a simple process. Saline solution is injected into the area which is being targeted for liposuction which helps to break up fatty deposits. These are then sucked out of very small incisions using a long thin metal tube with a hole in the middle called a cannula, which is attached to a vacuum. Once removed, the fat is purified ready for the second stage of the surgery.

The second stage involves the purified fat being injected back into your buttocks to enlarge it. The position of each injection is predetermined by your surgeon, who uses their skill and experience to decide them. The fat is injected at different depths and massaged so that it is evenly distributed and creates a smooth and natural appearance.
